Proton.ai is hiring an Engagement Manager to own customer implementations and shape product direction from the field. This role is a hybrid of implementation leadership and forward-deployed product management—you'll scope work, design solutions, and run engagements from kickoff through go-live and beyond, working directly with customer executives at distribution businesses.
Unlike traditional implementation roles, much of what you'll deliver doesn't exist yet. You'll partner with customers on new use cases, new integrations, and sometimes entirely new products, figuring out what should be built rather than just configuring existing features. You'll act as a credible bridge between business outcomes and technical reality, understanding how customers' businesses run and what would genuinely move the needle.
Key responsibilities include scoping implementations and owning solution design (what to build, configure, or push back on); partnering with customers on novel use cases and integrations; running engagements end-to-end from kickoff through adoption and expansion; collaborating with forward-deployed engineers on integrations and data pipelines; managing customer relationships up to the executive level; and feeding field learnings back to Product to shape the roadmap.
You should have 5–8+ years owning ambiguous, customer-facing problems end-to-end in professional services, solutions, consulting, product, or a startup. A product mindset is essential—you find real problems, separate must-haves from nice-to-haves, and are energized by building something new. You're comfortable pitching to VPs and C-level buyers, have technical aptitude to discuss APIs and data flows (no coding required), and own delivery, not just recommendations. You thrive in ambiguity, re-plan when scope shifts, and have real hands-on experience using AI tools like Claude in your work. Low ego and high ownership are critical; this function is still being built, and you'll help shape it.
