Ascendis Pharma, a global biopharmaceutical company, is seeking an Employment Law Counsel to join its legal team in Hellerup, Denmark. Reporting to the Head of Employment Law, you will provide expert legal support on employment matters across the company's global operations, with a primary focus on Europe and the United States.
You will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice on all employment law matters, including discrimination, harassment, wage and hour issues, and employee relations. Working collaboratively with HR, Compliance, Data Privacy, and Equity Compensation teams, you will develop, review, and update employment policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws across Ascendis Pharma's direct markets.
Key responsibilities include managing employment-related claims, audits, and inquiries from regulatory agencies; handling employee relations issues and investigations alongside HR; staying current on employment law changes and marketplace trends; and managing relationships with outside counsel on disputes and litigation matters. You will proactively identify and mitigate employment-related risks while contributing to the broader strategy of the Group Legal function and the organization.
The ideal candidate holds a master's degree from an accredited law school and brings 3+ years of employment law practice experience. You should have in-depth knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations, preferably across multiple jurisdictions, and a proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
You are a strong team player with an entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable thriving in an informal, open environment where innovation and change are valued. A commitment to ethical practices and maintaining confidentiality is required. Travel is minimal—approximately 5 days per year. The role is based at Ascendis Pharma's headquarters in Hellerup, Copenhagen.
