The company is building AI-powered solutions for video security, access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management across 170+ countries.
The Access Control team is a dynamic startup-within-a-startup focused on building cloud-managed access control systems. You'll join a small, focused team developing a new line of embedded devices with screens. The role centers on building intuitive UI experiences for these constrained hardware environments—delivering the same quality and polish customers expect from Verkada's web and mobile products, but optimized for embedded constraints.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building user interfaces for embedded screen devices in the access control product line
- Developing a reusable UI framework for all future Verkada screen devices
- Owning major product components with significant technical autonomy
- Collaborating with UX designers and engineers to solve complex, ambiguous problems
- Driving product ideas from concept to completion
You'll need 3+ years of UI development experience (embedded devices, video games, or mobile apps), proficiency in C/C++, a strong sense of visual design and UX, and a degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or related field. Android experience is a plus. The role requires full-time onsite presence (5 days/week) in San Mateo. Verkada sponsors employment visas.
