Marvel Fusion, Europe's leading fusion energy company founded in 2019, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the PLT-Laser Development team. Backed by over €385 million in public and private funding, the company operates across Munich and Colorado with 120 scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs focused on delivering clean, abundant energy through laser-driven fusion technology.
In this role, you will design and develop the electrical systems for a unique, scalable, industrial diode-pumped ultra-high intensity laser system. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle—from conceptual design and prototype testing through integration, commissioning, and validation in future facilities. Key responsibilities include:
• Design and develop electrical systems for the advanced laser platform, including analog and digital circuit design, pulsed power systems, and electromagnetics
• Lead integration of electrical systems across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases
• Develop quality plans, inspection protocols, and test frameworks for electrical systems
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including laser, engineering, and experimental groups
• Provide hands-on support for R&D projects, including troubleshooting, prototyping, and on-site repairs
• Interact with external partners globally and travel to facilities worldwide for several weeks at a time
• Contribute expertise across technical areas such as process control systems, diagnostics, sensor development, electro-optic systems, data acquisition, and facility infrastructure
You bring a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 3–5 years of industry experience. You have solid expertise in electrical engineering principles (design, assembly, calibration, testing) and proven hands-on experience designing and implementing complex electrical systems. Proficiency in electrical design software (EPLAN P8 or similar E-CAD tools) and knowledge of PLC-based control systems and industrial automation (SCADA, PLC) are essential.
