Mirror Physics is an NYC-based startup building AI agents to accelerate drug discovery. The company develops software that bridges frontier AI capabilities with the practical workflows of biologists and chemists in preclinical development, enabling scientists to explore, test, and advance new medicines faster and at lower cost.
This is a hybrid scientist-builder role combining deep domain expertise with hands-on product development. You'll work at the intersection of drug discovery science and software engineering, translating real preclinical workflows into agent behavior, product features, and evaluation systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Translating preclinical workflows and scientific judgment into product requirements, agent behavior specifications, tool integrations, and evaluation frameworks
- Working hands-on with engineering teams to prototype, test, diagnose, and improve AI agents across drug discovery tasks
- Designing and running benchmarks and validation efforts that measure scientific quality, reliability, and practical usefulness
- Exploring unfamiliar drug discovery domains, synthesizing new methods and tools, and communicating implications to the team
- Engaging directly with customers through discovery conversations, product feedback sessions, and commercial discussions
- Serving as a trusted domain expert to set scientific product priorities across the company
- Contributing to growth of Mirror's drug discovery team
You'll need multiple years of hands-on preclinical development experience in biotech or pharma, with deep expertise in one or more drug discovery areas (chemistry, biology, assay development, etc.) and strong understanding of the broader therapeutics pipeline. An engineering mindset, foundational computational/software skills, and familiarity with modern AI systems are essential. You should be able to learn unfamiliar scientific and technical domains quickly, explain complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences, and work comfortably with customers. The role values curiosity, intellectual honesty, strong ownership, and the ability to move quickly without compromising rigor.
The company offers competitive salary with meaningful equity, full health/dental/vision benefits, personal fitness budget, unlimited PTO, and visa sponsorship. Work is typically in-office in NYC.
