Salary: USD 184,100 - 322,200 / annual
ServiceNow is seeking a Director of Technical Accounting to lead the technical accounting team through the next phase of growth. This is a high-impact role responsible for addressing complex technical accounting matters, leading purchase accounting for an active M&A pipeline, and collaborating across the Finance organization to execute key initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Research, document, and resolve the company's technical accounting positions with internal leadership and external auditors
- Monitor and implement new accounting pronouncements, analyzing impact across the organization
- Serve as a key stakeholder throughout the M&A process, from pre-LOI review through post-close integration, leading financial diligence and purchase accounting
- Provide subject-matter expertise in business combinations, investment accounting, goodwill and intangible asset impairment, share-based compensation, revenue accounting, and hedge accounting
- Review draft SEC disclosures on technical accounting topics
- Lead quarterly and year-end close processes for technical accounting matters, including journal entry review, reconciliations, and SEC disclosure support
- Lead the development and mentoring of the technical accounting team
- Act as a trusted business partner and advisor to stakeholders in Accounting, Finance, Legal, Corporate Development, and cross-functional teams
- Drive process improvements and optimization, including AI initiatives for accounting automation
- Design and maintain effective global accounting policies, processes, procedures, and internal controls
- Serve as primary technical accounting liaison to external auditors
- Support SEC reporting to ensure financial statement compliance with US GAAP
The role reports to the Sr. Director, Technical Accounting and M&A.
Requirements:
- Minimum 12 years of total experience with at least 5 years at a Big Four public accounting firm
- BS/BA in Finance or Accounting with active CPA license (required)
- Sr. Manager role at a Big Four firm and/or Director, Technical Accounting at a public company
- Strong technical accounting background with knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting standards, SOX 404, and technical research
- Proven experience leading teams and mentoring high-performing individuals
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
- Meticulous attention to detail and analytical mindset
- Strong Excel proficiency
- Familiarity with emerging AI tools for accounting automation (valued)
- Experience with SAP or other large ERP systems (preferred)
