Spot & Tango is a VC-backed, high-growth e-commerce startup delivering personalized, subscription-based meal plans for dogs made with human-grade ingredients. The company is seeking a Director of Strategic Finance to partner directly with the SVP of Finance, CEO, COO, and broader leadership team in shaping financial strategy and driving the company's next stage of growth. In this role, you will operate at both tactical and strategic levels. Key responsibilities include: Strategic Finance & Corporate Initiatives: Partner with the SVP of Finance and leadership on financial strategy, capital allocation, and long-range planning. Serve as a strategic thought partner helping shape the Finance organization's priorities and roadmap. Assist with board reporting, executive reporting, and capital allocation decisions. Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities, monitor spending trends, and evaluate macroeconomic factors. Collaborate with cross-functional leaders across Marketing, Strategy, Customer Experience, Product, Engineering, and Operations on high-priority strategic projects. Financial Planning & Analysis: Develop monthly leadership reporting packages explaining financial performance, variance drivers, risks, and forward-looking implications. Own FP&A planning, reporting, and analytics tools; drive continuous improvement. Lead company-wide budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance management processes. Translate operational initiatives into financial targets and establish scalable planning processes. Partner with accounting on timely month-end close and forecasting accuracy. Develop actionable financial insights impacting customer acquisition, retention, inventory planning, spend management, and strategic investments. Treasury, Cash Flow & Capital Planning: Own cash forecasting, liquidity planning, and working capital management. Deliver rolling forecasts with actionable recommendations. Support treasury operations and banking relationships. Support debt and equity financing activities, M&A transactions, including financial modeling, due diligence, and execution. Finance Transformation & Systems: Own FP&A systems, planning tools, and reporting infrastructure. Lead Finance transformation initiatives enhancing planning processes, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiency. Champion process improvements across budgeting, forecasting, and cross-functional planning. Required qualifications: 8–12 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, corporate development, strategic finance, FP&A, management consulting, or similar, with deep expertise in financial modeling. Progressive FP&A leadership experience including 3+ years supporting CPG, food & beverage, retail, or inventory-driven omni-channel businesses. Experience partnering directly with leadership on strategic and operational finance. Experience leading company-wide forecasting, budgeting, long-range planning, and integrated financial modeling. Bachelor's degree or higher from a top-tier college with coursework in finance, business, math, engineering, or statistics. Preferred qualifications: Capital markets experience (equity raises, debt financings, IPO prep, lender/investor reporting). Experience supporting omni-channel businesses across DTC, Amazon, wholesale, and retail.
