Salary: USD 196,000 - 215,000 / annual
Cohere Health is seeking a Director, Solutions Architecture to lead a team of Solution Architects within the PaaS Delivery organization. This is a player-coach role responsible for setting technical and business standards for how Cohere designs solutions for complex healthcare clients running mission-critical platforms like claims systems and utilization management infrastructure.
You will manage a team of 8 Solution Architects, overseeing hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development. Key responsibilities include establishing solution design quality standards across the team, fostering a customer-centric culture that balances feasibility with commercial commitments, and owning escalations when solution designs are contested or technically infeasible. You'll balance workload and account assignments as implementations ramp up, partner cross-functionally with Solution Owners, Forward Deployed Engineers, Technical Program Managers, Platform Configuration, and QA to keep solution design synchronized with delivery timelines, and represent Solution Architecture in cross-functional planning and with client executive stakeholders on complex accounts. Additionally, you'll build repeatable training materials, templates, and playbooks to ensure solution quality is not dependent on any single architect.
This is a remote-first role with approximately 10% travel required for new hire onboarding, occasional in-person team meetings, and company events, with a primary office location in Boston, MA.

**Requirements:**
- 12+ years in solution architecture, technical consulting, or similar client-facing technical roles, including significant healthcare experience
- 3+ years directly managing a technical team (solution architects, FDEs, technical consultants, or similar)
- Familiarity with large, complex platforms such as claims systems, utilization/care management platforms, or similarly mission-critical enterprise systems
- Demonstrated ability to lead and make decisions in ambiguous, fast-changing environments without waiting for perfect information
- Strong technical judgment paired with genuine people leadership—comfortable going deep on hard technical problems and coaching direct reports through tough conversations
- Deep experience with payer operations, utilization management, or prior authorization specifically
- Background scaling a technical team through rapid company growth is a plus
- Experience presenting to and influencing client executive stakeholders is a plus
