YipitData, a unicorn-valued market research and analytics firm ($1B+ valuation, $475M Series funding from Carlyle Group), is seeking an experienced Director of Tax to lead its global tax strategy and compliance function.
In this role, you will own end-to-end tax operations for a high-growth fintech company, including federal, state, and local tax preparation and filing; sales and use tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions; quarterly and annual tax projections; and strategic tax planning for global entities. You will serve as the primary internal tax authority, liaising with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory bodies while providing tax guidance to cross-functional stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include: preparing and filing federal, state, local, and franchise tax returns; managing monthly sales and use tax filings via Avalara; reviewing and coordinating annual income tax returns and quarterly projections; preparing and filing Forms 1099, 1042, and 3921; developing and implementing global tax strategy; identifying and mitigating tax risks through controls and procedures; monitoring tax law developments and regulatory changes; maintaining tax nexus tracking and Secretary of State registrations; managing transfer pricing documentation and intercompany pricing policies; reconciling tax accounts on the general ledger; and supporting the annual financial audit.
You will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with entrepreneurial yet supportive colleagues. The role is fully remote within the US, though the company headquarters is in NYC and income may be subject to New York State tax withholding depending on work location.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Tax; active or inactive CPA license; 7+ years of tax experience in management, audit, compliance, or similar roles in fast-paced environments; prior international tax experience; and a combination of public (Big 4 preferred) and corporate tax background.
