Salary: USD 110,000 - 160,000 / annual
Via is transforming transportation through technology-enabled intermodal transit services. As Director of Strategy and Operations, you will lead Via's Montgomery service launch and operations—a first-of-its-kind role where you'll build the operation from the ground up while managing daily service delivery.
You will own end-to-end operational management of the Montgomery transit service, including real-time problem-solving for drivers and dispatchers, 24/7 team scheduling, and relationship-building with driver partners, customers, community leaders, and local organizations. You'll manage and mentor an on-site team of dispatchers and shift managers, establish clear KPIs and weekly performance visibility, analyze operational data to drive efficiency improvements, and ensure full compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulations.
This is a high-autonomy, entrepreneurial role requiring someone who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments. You'll be the face of the operation, liaising closely with Via senior management and external partners, and fostering a culture of world-class customer service and team engagement.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 6+ years of operations management experience
- Proven track record managing teams (at least 3–5 years); demonstrated ability to develop people and motivate high performance
- Independent self-starter comfortable with high responsibility and rapid decision-making
- Strong communicator with ability to adapt tone and approach across drivers, dispatchers, community leaders, and executives
- Detail-oriented executor; obsessively action-oriented and comfortable operating autonomously
- Exceptional problem-solver; creative, adaptable, and comfortable with change
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, delegate effectively, and prioritize
- Experience in transit operations is a plus
- Mandatory: successful completion of drug test, criminal background check, and motor vehicle records check
