Graphcore, a SoftBank Group company and leader in AI compute infrastructure, is seeking a Director of Software Architecture to lead the architectural vision of its software stack for ML accelerators. You will lead a dedicated architecture team responsible for defining, maintaining, and communicating the overarching architecture spanning firmware, drivers, ML frameworks, and tooling. In this role, you will serve as a thought leader and advocate for long-term technical vision, engaging with project stakeholders, external partners, and customers to ensure alignment. Key responsibilities include communicating the technical strategy, defining processes for architectural governance, managing technical and project-level risks, and ensuring the software architecture delivers excellent user experience. You will work closely with engineering, product, and leadership teams to align business goals with architectural vision, while inspiring and developing your architecture team. You will stay informed about trends in the ML and software ecosystem, clearly communicate trade-offs for company-wide architectural decisions, and mentor team members to grow their technical capabilities. Essential qualifications include proven leadership experience, familiarity with silicon and hardware teams, technical expertise in ML accelerator software, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. You should have hands-on experience with technologies such as firmware, drivers, ML frameworks (PyTorch, Triton), collectives, HPC, tooling, C/C++, or CPU architectures. A pragmatic, collaborative mindset with strong influence skills is critical. Prior experience in an architecture role is desirable. Graphcore offers competitive compensation, flexible working, generous annual leave, private medical insurance, dental coverage, matched pension (up to 5%), life assurance, income protection, and parental leave.
