Re:Build Manufacturing is a growing family of industrial and engineering businesses focused on revitalizing US manufacturing through enabling technologies, operational excellence, and strategic M&A. Cutting Dynamics (CDI), a Re:Build member company since 2021, is a premier supplier to aerospace, defense, commercial, and medical industries. Operating four facilities in Avon and Avon Lake, Ohio with over 220 employees and 165,000 square feet of production space, CDI manufactures high-quality components and assemblies using wire EDM, CNC, and composite processes, supported by AS9100 Quality Management System certification.
The Director of Production Operations is a new, transformational leadership role reporting to the General Manager. This position drives breakthrough improvements in throughput, quality, and cost across multiple manufacturing facilities by leveraging Lean principles, advanced analytics, and AI-enabled tools. The Director fundamentally reimagines production execution rather than optimizing existing processes, serving as a key architect of CDI's growth strategy.
Key responsibilities include: translating enterprise strategy into manufacturing capability and partnering on long-range strategy and capital planning; establishing data-driven performance metrics to exceed operational objectives and reduce cost of poor quality; championing Lean methodology deployment alongside AI, automation, and advanced analytics; building a flexible, resilient production operations organization; owning full accountability for safety, quality, cost, delivery, and responsiveness across all production operations; developing future leadership talent through coaching and mentoring; modeling creative problem-solving and intellectual curiosity; and acting with highest ethical standards and sound risk-based judgment. Direct reports include all three facility Plant Managers, with potential for additional reports in the future.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field (required); MBA or advanced degree preferred
- 15+ years of plant management or operations leadership experience in manufacturing, including leading multiple manufacturing plants or facilities at scale
- Demonstrated track record of leading transformational (not incremental) operational change, including deployment of AI, automation, or advanced digital tools to materially improve throughput, quality, or cost outcomes
- Experience translating business strategy into scalable, organic business growth; facilities expansion and/or acquisition integration experience preferred
- Deep Lean Manufacturing expertise with evidence of driving Lean transformation as strategic lever rather than tactical program
- Demonstrated skill in motivating, coaching, and developing team members to higher performance and capability
- Proven P&L ownership and capital allocation experience, including evaluating and executing major ROI-driving investments
