Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, offering buy-now-pay-later solutions without hidden fees or compounding interest. The Financial Platform sits at the heart of every loan Affirm makes and every dollar moved.
You will lead and scale product management teams behind two critical domains: Loans Lifecycle and Money Movement. This is a role for a seasoned product leader who thrives at the intersection of financial systems, platform engineering, and organizational scale.
Key responsibilities include:
• Lead and grow a high-performing PM team of 6–10 product managers, including people managers. Build mentorship paths, set craft standards, and cultivate a culture of ownership, rigor, and candor.
• Own the multi-year product strategy for Affirm's foundational loan systems and global money movement infrastructure. Ensure scalability, compliance, and support for rapid product innovation. Translate vision into clear roadmaps and executable decisions.
• Serve as the executive-level domain authority on loan lifecycle mechanics, payment rails, settlement flows, and institutional transfers. Guide product, engineering, and business partners on tradeoffs and platform decisions.
• Drive cross-functional alignment at scale. Partner with Engineering, Accounting, Treasury, Capital Markets, Legal, Compliance, and Client Success. Navigate complexity, balance competing needs, and build trust through clear communication and delivery.
• Architect platform strategies that simplify domain boundaries, standardize loan behaviors across products and markets, and unlock faster time-to-market for new geographies and product lines.
• Define and own platform health metrics—settlement success rates, reconciliation coverage, exception volumes, time-to-resolution—and hold teams accountable to reliability and accuracy standards.
• Influence up and across the organization. Present strategy, tradeoffs, and priorities to senior leadership. Shape organizational thinking on investment priorities.
Required qualifications:
• 10+ years of product management experience, with 3–5 years managing and developing PM teams including people managers.
• Deep experience in loans or lending systems; understanding of loan lifecycle mechanics, platform architecture for loan servicing, and compliance/operational requirements.
• Meaningful experience in money movement, payments infrastructure, or financial operations; fluency in payment rails, settlement flows, cross-border transfers, and reliability standards.
• Fintech, financial services, or banking background; familiarity with BNPL, platform products, or backend infrastructure strongly preferred; capital markets experience a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to set and execute long-term platform strategy in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
• Strong technical fluency; comfort diving into data models and API discussions with engineers.
• Proficiency with AI-assisted tools (Claude, Cursor) to accelerate work and raise team standards.
• Track record building and scaling distributed, high-performing PM teams across multiple domains.
• Exceptional stakeholder management; ability to align Legal, Finance, Engineering, and executive leadership.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication; ability to tell crisp, data-driven stories to diverse audiences.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
