ezCater is the #1 food tech platform for workplaces in the US, connecting over 125,000 restaurants with organizations managing employee meals and catering. The company solves a fundamentally different logistics problem than consumer food delivery: orchestrating complex, time-sensitive catering deliveries to office buildings, conference rooms, and events across the country.
You will define and own the Delivery & Fulfillment Intelligence Platform—the system of record and intelligence for every delivery on the network. This role encompasses the full lifecycle: demand and capacity planning, promise and lead-time calculation, routing and dispatch, in-flight risk detection and intervention, handoff and setup, and the learning loop that improves subsequent deliveries.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define the vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for the platform, establishing clear ownership: the platform owns decisions and data; experience teams own how those decisions reach customers, drivers, and restaurants.
- Define the delivery domain from first principles—the canonical event and state model, telemetry, history, and governed contracts for other domains.
- Develop capabilities such as order risk assessment, proactive intervention, building-level intelligence, decomposed lead-time and promise accuracy, and dynamic real-time routing and orchestration.
- Build proprietary capabilities: demand and capacity forecasting, and network optimization that allocates delivery supply against forecasted demand under real cost, coverage, and reliability constraints.
- Partner with Data organization on instrumentation, metrics (on-time performance, promise accuracy, straight-through rate), and the learning loop that closes prediction-to-reality gaps.
- Drive architectural and commercial trade-offs: build vs. buy decisions (ETA services, optimization solvers, telematics), and model vs. solver vs. rule decomposition.
- Partner with Supply Chain Operations, Delivery Partnerships, and Finance to evaluate insourcing delivery logistics—evaluating market scope, service tiers, and hybrid models with real data.
- Represent this work at the executive level with a clear point of view, distinguishing tactical quarterly wins from structural multi-year investments.
- Hire, lead, and grow the product team around this platform, starting hands-on.
- Travel to Boston quarterly for planning cycles, architecture reviews, and business reviews.
You bring 10+ years of product management experience, including 3+ years leading product managers, with deep grounding in platform, infrastructure, logistics, or marketplace operations products. This is a domain-definition role requiring significant autonomy in an ambiguous, high-stakes space. You have demonstrated experience hiring, developing, and retaining strong product managers.
