Radiant is seeking a Director of Policy and Government Affairs to lead the company's federal strategy and congressional engagement. Radiant builds portable nuclear microreactors (Kaleidos, 1-megawatt units) designed for rapid deployment to hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases. The company is on track to test its first reactor at Idaho National Laboratory in 2026, with customer deliveries beginning in 2028.
In this role, you will sit at the center of Radiant's federal growth strategy, working directly with company leadership and cross-functional teams to shape the policy, authorization, and appropriations environment required to deploy microreactors across U.S. government customers. This is not a traditional policy role—it requires deep understanding of how Congress actually works and the ability to translate technical and operational priorities into legislative outcomes.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing Radiant's congressional affairs strategy; building and maintaining relationships with Members of Congress, committee staff, and leadership offices across defense, energy, appropriations, and homeland security; identifying opportunities to advance authorizing and appropriations language supporting advanced nuclear systems; tracking and influencing annual authorization and appropriations cycles; and preparing briefing materials and strategic recommendations for leadership.
You will partner closely with business development, policy, regulatory, and technical teams to align congressional strategy with customer needs and deployment opportunities. You will coordinate with outside consultants, trade associations, think tanks, and aligned partners; support senior executives in congressional meetings and strategic engagements; and build relationships across the defense, energy, and industrial base ecosystem.
Required: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; 7+ years of experience in congressional policy, appropriations, or government affairs; Capitol Hill or close congressional experience; strong understanding of authorization and appropriations processes; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired: Experience on a congressional appropriations or authorizing committee; government affairs firm or multi-client policy practice background; familiarity with Department of Defense budgeting and program structure; knowledge of nuclear energy, advanced energy technologies, or national security policy.
