Salary: USD 243,000 - 297,000 / annual

Relay is a digital banking platform serving self-made business owners with financial management tools. The company operates a sophisticated performance marketing program across paid search, paid social, affiliate, CTV, linear TV, and direct mail with a $2–3M monthly budget. As Director of Performance Marketing, you will own Relay's complete paid media portfolio, setting channel strategy, budget allocation, and performance targets across brand and performance objectives. You'll directly manage and develop a team of performance marketers, overseeing hiring, leveling, performance management, and career development while coaching on channel mechanics, creative strategy, and business impact. Key responsibilities include: - Owning the full paid media portfolio (paid search, paid social, affiliate, CTV, linear TV, direct mail) with accountability for channel strategy and performance targets - Building and leading a performance marketing team with hiring, development, and performance management - Leading TV and CTV strategy in partnership with Brand and Creative teams, building attribution infrastructure to connect upper-funnel investment to downstream efficiency - Driving paid search and paid social programs with continuous experimentation in audience segmentation, creative testing, bidding strategy, and landing page optimization across PLG and sales-assisted conversion paths - Managing the affiliate program end-to-end: partner recruitment, commission structure, compliance, and performance management - Partnering with the data team to build measurement infrastructure across paid channels, including media mix modeling, multi-touch attribution, and incrementality testing - Owning paid media budget modeling, pacing, and forecasting in partnership with Finance You'll work in a high-growth fintech environment where you're expected to push for reinvention, take ownership of outcomes, embed AI into workflows, and measure success by results. The role requires autonomy, comfort with complexity and ambiguity, and a genuine commitment to helping small businesses thrive. REQUIREMENTS: - 8+ years in performance marketing or paid media, with at least 2 years managing a team, ideally at a high-growth SaaS, fintech, or subscription business - Proven ownership of a multi-million dollar monthly paid media budget with ability to articulate channel allocation decisions and strategic evolution - Expert-level knowledge of attribution (incrementality testing, media mix modeling, multi-touch attribution); rejection of last-click attribution as sufficient - Deep hands-on fluency in at least two of: paid search, paid social, CTV/programmatic, or affiliate, with working knowledge across remaining channels - Experience driving acquisition into both PLG and sales-assisted funnels with understanding of how channel mix, creative, and landing experience must flex by motion - Strong communication skills to translate channel data into business narrative; demonstrated ability to secure budget approvals from CFO/CEO - SQL and AI fluency for accelerating analysis, creative iteration, reporting, and audience research BONUS: - Experience in regulated industries (fintech, healthcare, insurance) with knowledge of running aggressive acquisition within compliance constraints - Experience marketing to small business owners or self-employed professionals - Direct mail acquisition channel experience - Public point of view on performance marketing, attribution, or media strategy
