The Director of Finance leads the accounting and finance function across multiple international entities, reporting to the CFO. This is a senior leadership role combining technical finance expertise with team management and strategic business partnership.
Key Responsibilities:
Finance Leadership & Team Management: Lead and manage an international finance team across multiple countries, including hiring, development, performance management, and succession planning. Set standards, structure, and priorities for the finance function while coordinating effectively across borders and time zones. Build a high-performing, cohesive team culture with clear accountability across jurisdictions.
Financial Operations & Controls: Own accounting operations end-to-end including accounts payable, payments, reconciliation, and month/year-end close across multiple countries and currencies. Establish and maintain a strong, standardized control environment with proper segregation of duties, approval thresholds, and documented processes. Navigate country-specific tax, payment, and compliance requirements, with particular expertise in Quebec obligations. Lead audits and ensure statutory and regulatory compliance in each market.
Planning, Reporting & Business Partnership: Partner with the CFO and senior leadership on financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting. Deliver accurate, timely financial reporting and analysis to leadership and the Board. Provide financial insight to support commercial and strategic decision-making across the business.
Process, Systems & Improvement: Own finance tools, systems, and workflows, driving improvement as the business scales. Identify and lead automation and efficiency initiatives to reduce manual effort and error risk. Ensure finance systems and data are reliable, integrated, and fit for a growing multi-country operation.
Required Qualifications: Extensive finance experience at senior manager or director level with ownership of financial operations and controls. Proven team leadership experience managing managers/leads and building distributed teams. Working knowledge of Quebec financial, tax, and regulatory requirements or substantial prior experience operating in Quebec. Demonstrated experience managing finance operations across multiple countries, currencies, and time zones. Strong technical finance judgment paired with ability to set standards and scale processes. Excellent communication skills to partner with CFO and senior leadership.
Nice to Have: Senior finance ownership of multiple legal entities across different countries; experience building and scaling finance functions for growing enterprise SaaS businesses; professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent); experience with AI tools for finance automation and analysis.
