Patlytics is an AI-native patent intelligence platform using custom-built LLMs and generative AI to transform intellectual property protection and monetization. The company recently closed a $40M Series B and is scaling rapidly across product, engineering, and go-to-market. As Director of Data, you will report to the VP of Finance & Operations and own the end-to-end data stack across GTM (Sales, Customer Success, Strategy), Marketing, Finance, and Product. You will partner with the executive team to build centralized sources of truth for critical business metrics and establish the data infrastructure needed to scale the company past $50-100M+ in ARR. Key responsibilities include: - Design and build a modern, scalable data stack end-to-end: ingestion, warehousing, transformation, orchestration, and BI/analytics. You'll architect pipelines connecting GTM, Marketing, Finance, and Product systems into a governed, centralized warehouse. - Establish a single source of truth by defining, documenting, and maintaining canonical metrics (ARR, pipeline, retention, usage, unit economics). You'll build the metrics dictionary, own data quality and reconciliation, and eliminate competing spreadsheets and siloed datasets. - Deliver reporting and dashboards providing real-time visibility to the executive team, board, and department leaders. You'll combine strong data analysis with clear visualization to surface insights that drive business decisions. - Evaluate and implement data tools and vendors, oversee integrations, and build automation to reduce manual reporting and errors across the stack. - Serve as a trusted data partner to executives and department leaders, translating business questions into data models, instrumenting new initiatives, and supporting planning, forecasting, and board reporting. - Lead ad-hoc projects including performance dashboards, custom departmental reporting, GTM funnel instrumentation, pricing/usage analyses, and diligence-ready data packages. You bring 7+ years of experience in data engineering, data infrastructure, or analytics engineering, with high-growth SaaS/Technology company experience in the $30-150M+ ARR range. You understand what breaks at scale and know how to build ahead of it. You have strong competency in data infrastructure and engineering with complementary skills in data analysis and governance. You're fluent with tools like Snowflake, Databricks, Clickhouse, Hubspot, Salesforce, Quickbooks, Fivetran, dbt, Netsuite, and MySQL. You've partnered across GTM, Marketing, Finance, and Product functions, with working knowledge of AI and SaaS business models and their key metrics. You have a design/infrastructure mindset, thinking systematically about how data models, pipelines, and reports are architected and connected.
