Crusoe is building vertically integrated AI infrastructure with an energy-first approach, owning the full stack from power generation to cloud services. The Director, Microgrid & Distributed Energy Strategy will lead end-to-end development of distributed energy and microgrid projects that power Crusoe's AI data centers and infrastructure.
This is a full-stack development role spanning strategy, technical vetting, project incubation, and commercial execution. You will own projects from initial identification through energized, operating infrastructure—evaluating sites, designing resilient electrical solutions, managing regulatory compliance, and driving financial viability at hyperscale. The role reports directly to the Chief Strategy Officer and requires building an incubation engine that takes promising energy projects from concept to deployed, operating power assets.
Key responsibilities include conducting site feasibility analyses, designing integrated systems combining solar PV, battery storage, and gas generation, navigating local/state/federal permitting and interconnection processes, and building financial models that translate project economics into bankable investment decisions. You will work with frontier energy technologies and early-stage teams, translating complex technical solutions into clear value propositions for internal stakeholders, partners, and regulators.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with deep experience designing and executing large-scale microgrid and distributed energy systems at hundreds-of-megawatts scale and above. Required skills include technoeconomic modeling, power markets knowledge, energy project development expertise, microgrid design principles, and strong stakeholder influence and commercial judgment. You must demonstrate elite communication skills, critical thinking, high agency, bias toward action, and creative problem-solving in evolving markets.
This role offers exposure to influential participants across energy, infrastructure, capital markets, technology, and policy globally. You will shape how the AI industry is powered and leverage Crusoe's purchasing power to advance new energy solutions. The position requires frequent travel to meet clients and stakeholders.
