Quince, a Series D direct-to-consumer retailer founded in 2018, is seeking a Director of Merchandising for Bedding & Textiles to scale its high-growth bedding category and launch a new mattress business. The company disrupts retail through AI, analytics, and automation, offering high-quality essentials at low prices through sustainable, fair manufacturing practices.
In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for executing the established bedding category strategy while identifying whitespace opportunities and launching the mattress category as a strategic adjacency. You will drive meaningful revenue and margin growth through data-driven assortment decisions, combining sharp category judgment with operational rigor.
Key responsibilities include: partnering with cross-functional teams to profitably scale the bedding category and launch mattresses; leveraging data and customer insights to build, optimize, and scale assortment while analyzing performance metrics (revenue, margin, inventory health, return rates); identifying and rapidly expanding into new product types including fabric blends, functional bedding, sleep health solutions, and mattresses; supporting continuous improvement through data on ratings, reviews, and returns; partnering with sourcing and product development to launch new products with focus on performance, sustainability, and quality; building SOPs for product consistency across multiple vendors; collaborating with marketing, site, and creative teams on compelling product launches and brand storytelling; and leading cross-functional collaboration to drive category success.
This is a hands-on leadership role for a commercially driven operator who can combine strategic thinking with execution excellence in a fast-growing, customer-obsessed organization.
