Datadog is seeking a Director of Enterprise Sales Engineering to lead a regional team across the US East (Boston and New York). This is a strategic leadership role managing frontline SE leaders and driving account strategy, deal execution, and operational excellence across a high-growth region.
You will own in-field execution at the regional level, taking an executive presence role in strategic and high-impact opportunities. You'll develop and operationalize repeatable methodologies that scale across a large customer base, enabling Datadog to accelerate enterprise growth by demonstrating how Datadog's observability and security solutions deliver measurable business outcomes—particularly in the context of Agentic AI.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with senior Sales leadership on regional strategy, multi-quarter planning, and annual capacity planning, operating 2-3 quarters ahead
- Oversee consistent, high-quality delivery across technical sales cycles, including evaluations and deal progression
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Sales Engineering leaders, driving performance and long-term career growth
- Hire and onboard top talent at both IC and manager levels
- Manage regional operations including resource allocation, utilization, KPI tracking, and skills development
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Marketing, Enablement, and Support at a senior level
- Drive operational excellence by improving processes, maintaining data quality, and scaling evaluation frameworks
- Track competitive developments and emerging technologies to position Datadog as a leader in cloud security
Required qualifications: 5+ years leading frontline SE leaders in customer-facing technical organizations; 10+ years in Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or related technical customer-facing roles; proven success leading solution engineering teams with senior stakeholders; ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels; excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; expertise in public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), Kubernetes, APM/tracing, security, observability, or adjacent SaaS technology; familiarity with sales methodologies like MEDDICC or Command of Message; demonstrated capability with AI tooling; willingness to travel as needed.
