Cogent Security is an Applied AI Lab building AI agents for cybersecurity. The company partners with Fortune 500 organizations to secure complex production environments and is backed by Greylock.
As Director of Content Marketing, you will be the founding content leader, owning how Cogent communicates its point of view to the market. You'll build and run the content engine end-to-end, turning product insights, original research, and customer outcomes into content that drives pipeline and engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
**Narrative & Content Strategy:** Own the full content calendar and series (weekly VM insights, AI security myths, remediation playbooks) across LinkedIn, blog, video, and long-form formats. Drive SEO and AEO strategy to ensure discoverability by buyers and AI models. Track content performance against pipeline impact and double down on what works.
**Content Production:** Write top- and middle-of-funnel pieces (blog posts, ebooks, whitepapers) that attract practitioners and move buyers toward decisions. Develop and execute social strategy with regular series and timely posts that maintain Cogent's thought leadership presence.
**Executive & Founder Voice:** Ghostwrite for the CEO, CTO, and technical leaders with consistent voice and authentic point of view. Build systems to capture raw material from leader interviews, Slack, call notes, and research briefs, then transform it into shareable thought leadership.
**Research & Story Packaging:** Package Cogent Research findings, threat intelligence, and product insights into original analysis that generates pipeline. Own the flagship research report and associated programs in partnership with the research and CTO teams. React quickly to security news with timely POV pieces.
**AI-Native Production:** Leverage AI tools and orchestrate contractors to enable a small team to ship at scale without sacrificing accuracy or voice. Build systems that accelerate the entire content engine, including a living archive of positioning, proof, and research accessible company-wide.
A separate Director of Communications handles press and analyst relations; you focus on creating the material worth covering.
**Requirements:**
- 8-10+ years in content roles in B2B tech (cybersecurity strongly preferred)
- Proven track record of content that moved measurable business outcomes: content-sourced pipeline, organic traffic/rankings, engagement converting to meetings
- Experience as the content engine at a small company, shipping weekly without large teams or budgets
- Excellent writing and editorial judgment; ability to build point of view and explain complex security topics simply and credibly
- Proven ghostwriting experience for executives with a system for capturing authentic voice
- Fluent with AI in actual workflows; can articulate content processes, breakdowns, and iterations
**Nice-to-Have:**
- Experience packaging research (threat reports, benchmarks, original analysis)
- SEO/AEO expertise through agencies or contractors
- Production skills beyond writing (short video, explainers, visual direction)
- Familiarity with vulnerability management, exposure management, AppSec, or CloudSec
