Jerry is a fintech-adjacent consumer platform that started with car insurance in 2019 and has grown to 5M+ customers with $240M+ in funding. The company is now expanding beyond cars into home, motorcycle, and other physical assets. This Director role owns the end-to-end partnerships motion for these new product lines, reporting directly to the VP of Partnerships. You will build and manage the partnerships pipeline from initial outreach through signed agreement and successful onboarding. This includes leading independent conversations with insurance carriers and potential partners, qualifying fit, understanding partner needs, and structuring creative value propositions. A key part of the role is designing non-standard deal structures for partners who don't fit a template—when the obvious approach gets rejected, you find the alternative arrangement that unlocks the relationship. Post-close, you own partner success, working cross-functionally with product, engineering, data science, legal, finance, and executive leadership to ensure new partners ramp effectively and become long-term relationships. Your ground-level insights feed directly into vertical strategy and how the company sequences new product bets. The role is deliberately unstructured for newer verticals; the partnership model is still being defined. You'll scope what to build rather than execute a proven playbook. Deals are complex with long sales cycles (many won't close), requiring analytical rigor, strong judgment, and persistence. The organization is lean and flat, so you'll work heavily cross-functional on every deal. Required: 5+ years in business development, partnerships, or strategy consulting with a track record of closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals. You should have 0-to-1 experience launching a new partnership category, entering a new market, or building a BD function from scratch. Your background should combine at least two of: consulting/structured problem-solving, BD/sales execution, or early-stage startup operating experience. You must be able to engage senior external stakeholders and navigate large partner organizations independently, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
