Salary: USD 204,000 - 306,000 / annual
1Password is seeking a Director of Analytics Engineering to lead the data foundations that power the business across Marketing, Finance, Product, Analytics, and Data Engineering. You'll own the vision, roadmap, and execution for 1Password's analytics engineering function, including core data models, semantic layers, BI tooling, and pipeline infrastructure.
In this role, you'll hire, manage, and develop analytics engineers while establishing clear career ladders, leveling expectations, and performance practices. You'll set standards for data modeling, testing, documentation, code review, deployment, and data quality. You'll stay close to the technical work by reviewing complex dbt models, optimizing SQL, and troubleshooting high-priority pipeline issues.
You'll serve as a senior technical partner on data modeling and metric governance, ensuring definitions are consistent, trusted, and well documented. Partner with leaders across Data Engineering, Analytics, Finance, Marketing, Product, and GTM teams to turn business needs into a prioritized roadmap. Build governed, reliable data foundations that support company-wide decision-making, AI initiatives, and Generative BI experiences.
Required qualifications include significant experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data architecture with team leadership. You need strong SQL and dbt expertise, including advanced data modeling, incremental processing, testing, documentation, and multi-environment deployment. Deep knowledge of dimensional modeling (Kimball/star schema) in complex B2B SaaS environments is essential. Experience with modern cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift) and establishing semantic layer strategies and trusted metric definitions across organizations is required. You must translate complex business priorities into clear data platform roadmaps and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
Preferred experience includes CI/CD, orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect), and AI-assisted analytics engineering workflows. 1Password is a $400M+ ARR company, Forbes Cloud 100 honoree, trusted by 180,000+ businesses including Fortune 100 leaders.
