Salary: USD 160,000 - 215,000 / annual

The Director of AML Compliance is a senior individual contributor role reporting to the AML Compliance Officer. This position is responsible for driving enhancements to Clear Street's AML program and providing expert guidance across the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading implementation and continuous improvement of AML policies, procedures, and controls in response to regulatory changes and emerging typologies
- Conducting and overseeing KYC refresh reviews to ensure documentation accuracy and regulatory compliance
- Reviewing and dispositioning complex ongoing monitoring alerts (sanctions, PEP, adverse media) and escalating matters requiring enhanced due diligence or investigation
- Owning and leading execution of complex EDD reviews
- Conducting SAR investigations and contributing to SAR filing decisions, including drafting and reviewing narratives
- Partnering with onboarding, technology, and operations teams to improve AML workflows
- Advising business lines on AML-related questions and customer risk classification
- Coordinating AML audit requests and preparing responses
- Monitoring regulatory developments and assessing impact on the firm's AML program
- Training and mentoring junior AML staff
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree, 7–10 years of AML compliance, AML audit, or financial crimes experience at a broker-dealer or regulated financial institution, and strong knowledge of BSA/AML, KYC, CIP, CDD, EDD, OFAC, and FinCEN requirements. Experience with institutional client onboarding and proficiency with screening tools (World-Check, CLEAR, or equivalent) is essential. Candidates should demonstrate exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
