SoundCloud, a creator-first music streaming platform with 40+ million artists across 190+ countries, is seeking a Director of Accounting to lead the Accounting & Tax department in Berlin. Reporting directly to the VP Group Controller, you will serve as the senior accounting leader locally and hold genuine accountability for elevating financial group reporting standards.
You will take full ownership of group consolidation, IFRS financial reporting, German local statutory reporting (HGB), intercompany accounts, and technical accounting positions. Key responsibilities include preparing consolidated IFRS financial statements and related notes, managing monthly consolidated reporting packages, overseeing German HGB statutory financial filings and directing local audits, and driving end-to-end management and reconciliation of intercompany activity across all subsidiaries. You will evaluate complex technical accounting developments under IFRS, draft technical memorandums, and offer guidance across business functions. You will serve as the primary liaison for external auditors during annual group audits, ensuring high-quality deliverables and prompt issue resolution.
You will mentor and expand the local Berlin accounting team, overseeing accounts payable, procurement operations, and reconciliation of VAT/Sales Tax accounts in cooperation with the Tax Team. A significant strategic component involves leading the evaluation and implementation of a new software solution for group financial consolidation, currently managed through Oracle Fusion and spreadsheets. You will partner closely with US finance leadership to align accounting policies and improve group-wide close efficiency.
The role combines strategic enhancement with core stewardship, offering autonomy to drive meaningful impact across multiple areas. SoundCloud operates offices in New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, and London, with a flexible hybrid work culture.
