Trigger.dev is an open-source platform that enables developers to build production-grade AI agents. The company provides an SDK and managed infrastructure for running agents reliably at scale, allowing teams to focus on product rather than infrastructure plumbing. With the rise of AI, reliable async task execution has become critical to developer workflows.
This role is a specialized, events-focused Developer Relations position based in San Francisco. The job is deliberately narrow in scope: 100% events-driven, not product education, content strategy, or general marketing.
You will focus on three core activities:
1. Attending existing events (meetups, AI Tinkers, YC events, conferences) across the SF ecosystem, building genuine relationships with developers and founders, and being visibly excellent in those rooms.
2. Securing speaking slots at developer events and conferences, pitching yourself for talks and panels, and delivering polished, memorable presentations.
3. Organizing Trigger.dev's own events or co-hosting with other tech companies—running meetups, talks, and exploring joint initiatives like hackathons at YC offices.
Secondary activities include writing blog recaps or producing short YouTube clips of talks as natural byproducts of event work, not as primary deliverables. You will work largely independently, with minimal day-to-day oversight, and report back on activity metrics: events attended, video of talks given, and written recaps of key relationships formed.
The goal is pure awareness and organic advocacy. You may rarely mention Trigger.dev by name at events; instead, the strategy is to build a groundswell of natural mentions across the SF developer ecosystem by being visibly excellent and well-liked in rooms where developers already gather.
The team is small with a flat hierarchy. Everyone operates autonomously and is trusted to get the job done while raising their hand quickly if help is needed. The company emphasizes continuous learning, customer care, open-source community engagement, and the importance of taking time off to recharge.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must-have:
- Genuine stage presence and charisma with video evidence of speaking, presenting, or performing (YouTube-quality bar)
- Developer background; credible and comfortable in rooms of engineers
- High self-motivation; ability to thrive working independently with little day-to-day oversight
- Genuine belief in Trigger.dev's mission and product
Strong fit if you have:
- Ex-YC founder background with access to YC-only events and community
- Existing relationships or audience within SF/AI developer or founder scene
- Early-stage founder experience or very early career with high self-direction
- Track record of speaking at or organizing developer events
- Social media presence
