Salary: USD 112,000 - 149,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is seeking a Development Test Engineer to join the Air Dominance & Strike team in Costa Mesa, California. This role is central to validating and optimizing air vehicle systems, missiles, and launch platforms through rigorous testing and analysis.
You will lead comprehensive test campaigns from conception through execution and reporting. Responsibilities include planning and designing structural, performance, and environmental tests; setting up test articles and specialized equipment; operating data acquisition systems, thermal chambers, electrodynamic shakers, and fluid power systems; and analyzing results to identify and resolve hardware anomalies. You will generate detailed work instructions for technicians and collaborate closely with design engineers to optimize product performance while maintaining strict safety standards.
Required qualifications include a BS, MS, or PhD in an engineering discipline, 2+ years of professional engineering experience, strong command of engineering first principles, and eligibility to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods and lift/carry materials up to 25 lbs.
Preferred experience includes knowledge of hazardous or pressurized systems (cryogenics, hydraulics, jet fuels, energy storage); familiarity with instrumentation (accelerometers, load cells, thermocouples, pressure transducers, strain gauges); knowledge of MIL-STD-810 and RCC-319 test standards; proficiency in Python, Matlab, or similar coding languages; experience with 3D modeling (Siemens NX) and PLM systems (Teamcenter); ability to integrate electronic components into mechanical designs; and hands-on experience with machining, sheet metal, and 3D printing.
