Braintrust is an agent observability platform used by teams at Notion, Stripe, Box, OpenAI, and Cloudflare to trace their AI agents, identify issues, and run evaluations. The company is hiring Developer Support Engineers to provide technical support to developers building LLM-powered applications. In this role, you'll diagnose and resolve API and SDK issues directly alongside customer codebases in Python or TypeScript. You'll reproduce customer-reported bugs, collaborate with the engineering team to fix them, and own support communications primarily via Slack and email. A key part of the job is writing and maintaining knowledge base documentation that helps future developers move faster and identifying opportunities to improve the developer experience. You'll also write scripts and contribute to internal tooling that enhances support workflows, participate in on-call rotations for critical issues, provide technical mentorship to cross-functional peers, and capture customer feedback to inform product and engineering roadmap priorities. The ideal candidate has prior experience supporting developer-facing products as a Software Engineer, Customer Engineer, Developer Success Engineer, or Technical Account Manager. You should be comfortable reading and debugging Python and TypeScript codebases, learning APIs and SDKs quickly, and taking personal ownership of technical problems until customers are unblocked. Strong communication skills—especially the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and empathetically—are essential. Bonus experience includes supporting developer tools, ML infrastructure, or observability platforms; familiarity with OpenAI or Anthropic APIs; comfort with datasets and evaluation metrics; contributions to support tooling or documentation; prior experience as a senior technical team member or tech lead; and experience submitting production PRs to fix customer-impacting issues in backend services, SDKs, or infrastructure.
