Comfy is an AI creation engine for visual professionals, offering a powerful workflow engine that lets users connect models, processing steps, and outputs on a canvas with full visibility and control. The company has grown from an open-source project launched in 2023 to 4 million users, 60,000+ community-built nodes, and 150,000+ daily downloads. It's used by artists, filmmakers, game studios, and teams at OpenAI, Netflix, Amazon Studios, Ubisoft, EA, and Tencent. The company recently raised $30M at a $500M valuation. As the first Developer Relations hire, you will own how developers discover, learn, and succeed with Comfy programmatically, serving as the internal advocate for developer needs. You'll work with two audiences: developers integrating ComfyUI into their own applications and pipelines, and authors of the 60,000+ community-built custom nodes. Key responsibilities include: owning the developer onboarding path from workflow to production integration; meeting with teams already running ComfyUI in production to understand their needs and gather product feedback; shipping production-ready sample apps and starter templates; being the first to build against every new API surface and identifying friction points; owning developer documentation including tutorials, guides, and API references; supporting custom node authors with documentation and migration guides; running office hours, workshops, and hackathons; and serving as the public technical voice through written guides, videos, livestreams, and community presence. You should have shipped production applications against third-party APIs, understand what makes developer platforms pleasant or painful to integrate with, and have produced technical content that developers actually used (tutorials, sample repos, videos, docs). Knowledge of generative AI concepts (checkpoints, LoRAs, samplers) is expected, though deep ML expertise is not required. Experience with media, VFX, game production pipelines, or open-source communities is valuable. You'll operate without an existing playbook, defining this function from the ground up in a small, high-ownership team.
