Salary: USD 180,000 - 220,000 / annual
You.com is building AI Search Infrastructure that powers modern AI systems, combining proprietary vertical indexes with LLM-optimized retrieval to serve AI agents, applications, and enterprises. The company is solving hard problems across search, large language models, and large-scale infrastructure to make AI systems more reliable, transparent, and useful.
In this Developer Community Manager role, you will own You.com's developer community strategy and programming across San Francisco and New York City. You'll create meaningful engagement opportunities for developers through events, workshops, hackathons, partnerships, and online communities, building strong local communities while driving product adoption and long-term affinity.
Key responsibilities include:
- Establishing consistent presence in San Francisco and New York's AI ecosystems
- Building relationships with AI engineers, founders, researchers, technical leaders, developer groups, startups, universities, and influential community members
- Developing regular high-quality community programming: meetups, technical workshops, hackathons, builder dinners, office hours, and other formats developers want to attend
- Turning You.com's SF and NYC hubs into destinations for the AI builder community
- Partnering with DevRel and Product to create hands-on experiences that reduce friction from attending events to making first API calls
- Identifying and cultivating community champions, advocates, speakers, and long-term partners
- Building relationships with complementary developer platforms, AI communities, accelerators, open-source projects, and ecosystem partners
- Maintaining authentic presence in online communities where AI developers gather (X, LinkedIn, GitHub, Discord, Hacker News, emerging platforms)
- Creating feedback loops between developer community and Product/Engineering teams
- Partnering with Marketing to amplify community stories, projects, and demos
- Developing scalable community programs supporting builders beyond individual events
- Establishing clear goals and measurement across community growth, event participation, API signups, activation, product usage, advocacy, and pipeline
- Representing You.com at developer conferences, meetups, hackathons, and technical events
Requirements:
- Experience building or managing a developer, technical, startup, or AI community
- Strong existing relationships within the AI and developer ecosystem, particularly in San Francisco and/or New York
- Demonstrated ability to create events and programs that technical audiences choose to participate in repeatedly
- Strong understanding of how developers discover, evaluate, adopt, and advocate for developer tools and APIs
- Technical fluency sufficient to have credible conversations with engineers about APIs, AI agents, LLMs, developer infrastructure, and modern AI application development
- Comfortable getting hands-on with developer products and learning enough to demonstrate and discuss them authentically
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, engaging developers without sounding like traditional corporate marketing
- Experience collaborating across DevRel, Product, Marketing, Partnerships, and Sales
- Highly proactive and comfortable building programs from scratch
- Data-driven approach to community building, understanding how community engagement translates into product adoption, retention, advocacy, and pipeline
- Experience in AI infrastructure, developer tools, APIs, or open-source communities strongly preferred
- Active participation in developer or AI communities is a plus
