Datadog is seeking a Developer Advocate for Service Management in the EMEA region. This role bridges engineering expertise and community engagement, focusing on incident response, on-call management, and operational automation. You will serve as a subject matter expert for Datadog's service management capabilities (incident response, on-call, IDP, Work Management, Workflow Automation, Agent Builder, and operational automation), translating real-world experience to help user communities solve problems. Your responsibilities include: - Act as a subject matter expert for service management practices and tools for Datadog's advocacy and engineering teams - Create compelling content across multiple mediums (demos, blog posts, documentation, webinars, open source contributions, research reports, public speaking) to establish Datadog as a leader in DevOps, monitoring, observability, and security - Partner with product engineering teams to build demos and coach internal teams on effective communication and presentation skills - Interface with open source communities to drive key messaging and develop new integrations - Contribute to product improvement through feedback, documentation, or code contributions This role combines technical depth with creative storytelling to shape the landscape in cloud observability, incident response, and service management. You'll work with practitioners and leaders across the industry, broadening your impact to the SRE, engineer, DevOps, and operations communities. **Requirements:** - Approximately 5+ years of experience as a Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Software Developer with hands-on experience as an on-call/incident responder and running production systems in complex IT environments - Strong understanding of core service-management practices (incident response, on-call, post-incident reviews, SLOs) and experience with tools like Datadog, PagerDuty, Opsgenie, incident.io, Rootly, Jira Cloud Platform, Cortex, or similar - Ability to navigate operational challenges of different-sized organizations - Passion for helping teams fix organizational challenges, not just technical ones, and a track record of sharing knowledge broadly - Approximately 2+ years of experience in storytelling and creating compelling content (written content, conference speaking at SREcon/DevOpsDays/SREday, workshops, live streaming, video recording, open source contributions, community participation) - Publicly available writing samples, blog posts, demos, or recordings of technical presentations - Comfort with at least one scripting/programming language (Node.js, Python, Go, bash) and familiarity with APIs, modern infrastructure (IaaS cloud services, containers) - Self-driven approach to exploring and learning new technologies and languages **Bonus:** - Hands-on ITSM platform experience (ServiceNow, Jira Service Management) - Active membership in SRE, DevOps, or incident-response communities
