Synthesia is the world's leading AI video platform for business, used by over 90% of the Fortune 100. The company is headquartered in London with offices across Europe and the US. Following a Series E funding round of $200 million, Synthesia is valued at $4 billion with total funding exceeding $530 million from premier investors including Accel, NVentures (Nvidia's VC arm), Kleiner Perkins, and GV. As the first Developer Advocate, you will be the face and voice of the Synthesia API to the developer world. This is a builder-and-storyteller role combining technical depth with community engagement. You'll create technical content developers actually use, show up where developers gather, serve as a credible technical voice, channel feedback to product, and build the developer community flywheel. Key responsibilities include: - Create technical content: write blog posts, tutorials, and how-to guides showing real working integrations; build and maintain sample apps, starter kits, and code snippets across common languages and frameworks; produce video walkthroughs and livestreams using Synthesia's own product; maintain a fast, consistent cadence of output. - Community presence: represent Synthesia at conferences, meetups, hackathons, and webinars as speaker and workshop host; run livestreams and community AMAs focused on real implementation questions; build relationships with developers, technical bloggers, and community leaders; travel as needed to be physically present in key communities. - Technical credibility: get hands-on with the Synthesia API to build, debug, and speak with authority; earn trust through genuine usefulness; play the long game in developer communities. - Product feedback loop: channel developer feedback and feature requests to Product and Engineering; partner with Developer Support to identify API friction points; help prioritize the developer experience roadmap. - Community growth: grow and nurture channels (Discord/Slack, developer newsletter, social); identify and cultivate community advocates and power users; measure engagement, API sign-ups, community growth, and sentiment. You'll work closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Developer Support as part of the Developer Services team. REQUIREMENTS: - Experience in developer relations, developer advocacy, technical evangelism, or similar hybrid technical/communication role, ideally at a platform, API-first, or infrastructure company - Hands-on comfort writing code, working with APIs and SDKs, and building demo apps yourself - Strong, authentic communicator across written, live, and stage formats who can make technical concepts land with developer audiences - Comfortable with regular travel and public speaking; energized by in-person developer engagement - Track record of sustained output (blog, video, or community content) demonstrating consistency over one-off campaigns - Skilled at listening and translating developer frustration into actionable product signals - Comfortable operating with autonomy in a fast-moving, still-forming function - Bonus: existing following or credibility within developer communities relevant to video, AI/ML, automation, or enterprise software
