Trigger.dev is an open-source platform for building production-grade AI agents, providing an SDK and managed cloud infrastructure for developers to run agents reliably at scale. The company is seeking a Design Engineer to elevate UX and visual quality across the product and marketing surfaces.
In this hands-on role, you'll blend design sensibility with engineering ability to transform rough ideas, Figma files, or problem statements into polished, production-quality experiences without traditional design-to-dev handoffs. You'll work closely with a small, flat-hierarchy engineering team shipping fast.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and building high-quality, polished UI across the web app and marketing site
- Owning design decisions end-to-end from concept through shipped production code
- Building and evolving the design system and component library to scale quality as the product grows
- Improving accessibility, responsiveness, and interaction polish across existing product surfaces
- Prototyping new ideas quickly in both code and static mockups for rapid iteration
- Helping instill stronger design and UX sensibility across the wider engineering team
- Contributing to community engagement on Discord and GitHub, reviewing PRs, and maintaining documentation

REQUIREMENTS:
Must-have:
- Strong portfolio demonstrating both design quality and ability to ship real, production UI
- Expertise in modern frontend engineering: React and TypeScript (Remix stack)
- Sharp eye for visual and interaction detail (typography, spacing, motion, polish)
- Comfort working from problem statements rather than fully-specced designs; ability to drive design decisions independently
- Remote candidates must be within CET to ET timezones (GMT+1:00 to GMT-5:00)
Nice-to-have:
- Experience owning design end-to-end at a small startup without a separate design team
- Background at a developer tools company or strong developer empathy
- Experience building or evolving design systems and component libraries
- Track record of shipping fast and iterating in public
- UK-based candidates able to join team in London
