Vals AI is seeking a Marketing Designer to own the visual storytelling of complex data and AI evaluation research. You'll create graphics, videos, and visual assets for social media, website, email campaigns, and events—translating intricate data points into simple, shareable stories. You will work closely with marketing and engineering teams to shape creative direction for social reports, benchmark announcements, and product launches. This is a fast-paced, campaign-driven role where you'll ship design variants quickly, test engagement and conversion metrics, and iterate based on results while maintaining brand cohesion. Key responsibilities include: - Producing all graphics and videos for benchmark reports, model reports, and announcements across social and email - Building and testing visual variants to improve engagement and conversion - Translating complex data and long-form content into platform-specific shareable assets - Collaborating with marketing and engineering on visual storytelling - Evolving and extending Vals AI's visual identity across all touchpoints - Crafting and maintaining a marketing asset library - Designing company merchandise and event branding - Maintaining a fast, iterative workflow: ship, measure, refine Vals AI is a Series A AI evaluation platform founded by Stanford NLP researchers. The team includes Stanford PhDs, ex-Jane Street quants, and the first designer at Snorkel. Recent $40M Series A funding led by Andreessen Horowitz at $400M valuation. The company evaluates foundation models and LLMs, with research featured in major outlets including The Washington Post, WSJ, and The New York Times. REQUIREMENTS: - Strong portfolio demonstrating informative graphics, data visualization, and video/motion work (portfolio quality prioritized over formal credentials) - Proficiency in Figma or equivalent design tool - Familiarity with basic video editing and motion tools (After Effects, Premiere, or similar) - Strong typography and layout fundamentals - Ability to clearly communicate design decisions in terms of business outcomes - Open to all experience levels, from new graduates to experienced designers - Full-time, in-person commitment (5 days/week at San Francisco office) NICE TO HAVE: - Familiarity with AI tools for coding-adjacent tasks - Brand design and cultivation experience - Interest or experience in AI and model evaluation work
