Hello Heart is seeking a Deputy General Counsel, Product to provide strategic legal guidance across its AI-powered cardiac prevention platform. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will partner with Product, Engineering, Clinical, Data Science, Sales, Client Support, and Compliance teams to navigate complex regulatory requirements and shape product strategy.
Key responsibilities include leading negotiations of customer-facing contracts related to data rights, AI/ML usage, and product functionality; advising on healthcare regulatory compliance including collaborative practice agreements, corporate practice of medicine restrictions, and HIPAA requirements; partnering with Compliance on data privacy and consumer protection risks; and supporting the Health Plan Sales Group with commercial matters and customer agreement management.
You will own and maintain member-facing terms of service, disclosures, and legal documentation while advising on product liability risks. The role includes supporting responsible AI governance initiatives, reviewing customer-specific AI requirements and contractual commitments, and escalating legal issues that may require modifications to AI functionality or data practices.
Additional responsibilities span telehealth services, pharmacy review, health information exchange agreements, state-specific consent language and disclosures, intellectual property matters including patent portfolio management and open-source compliance, and monitoring industry trends in AI/ML healthcare, FDA requirements, telehealth, Medicare/Medicaid, and digital health. You will advise on legal risks specific to health plan relationships (Medicare Advantage, Medicaid managed care, ACA marketplace) and Federal Acquisition Regulation compliance for government contracts.
