Pearl Health, a healthcare technology company founded in 2020 and backed by Andreessen Horowitz and Viking Global Investors, is seeking a Deputy General Counsel to help scale its Legal Department. The company empowers primary care providers and health systems to succeed in value-based care through technology, financial tools, and expert services.
In this hands-on role, you will partner closely with the General Counsel to navigate the complex regulatory landscape of value-based care and build legal infrastructure supporting Pearl's fast-growing partnerships with providers and health systems. You'll advise business teams on regulatory compliance, manage risk, and develop scalable legal processes as the company grows across 44 states.
Key responsibilities include: staying current on U.S. healthcare, technology, and primary care regulations; developing trusted relationships with business partners; drafting policies and compliance processes; working cross-functionally to integrate legal input across the organization; providing strategic advice on new products and customer experiences; and managing multiple initiatives simultaneously under tight deadlines.
You'll need a J.D. degree with admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, plus at least 7 years of healthcare legal experience (in-house or law firm). Background in regulatory matters (FDA experience preferred), contracting, transactions, or litigation is essential. You should excel at researching complex legal topics, translating them for non-lawyers, and counseling teams on business and risk-mitigation strategies. The ideal candidate is curious, humble, collaborative, and thrives in fast-moving startup environments with a genuine excitement for taking on outsized responsibility.
