Salary: USD 166,000 - 220,000 / annual

Anduril Industries is seeking a Deputy Chief Engineer for Propulsion & Energy Systems (PES) to lead technical strategy and execution for the Tactical Recon & Strike team's aerial drone platforms (Ghost, Anvil, Bolt, Altius). This role bridges system architecture, mechanical design, electrical integration, and software coordination to advance small unmanned aerial vehicles (Group 1-3) from concept through operational deployment. Key responsibilities include: conceptualizing system architecture for vehicle upgrades and new platforms; leading conceptual design efforts including sizing, performance analysis, and prototyping; developing system design plans and interface specifications for UAV products; managing tactical engineering efforts across multidisciplinary teams; drafting and executing test plans for critical subsystems and vehicle-level acceptance testing; developing payload integration interface controls for partners and customers; leading vehicle data analysis to identify performance trends and predictive failure models; supporting hands-on build, benchtop, and flight testing with occasional travel. Required: 7–10 years of industry experience in system architecture, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, software development, and control theory. Demonstrated expertise in conceptual design and vehicle system architecture; proven progression from clean-sheet design to functioning hardware; hands-on experience building and prototyping complex robotic or aircraft systems; knowledge of electronics troubleshooting and basic test equipment; strong organizational and communication skills; ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance; willingness to travel for test planning and execution. Preferred: experience developing electromechanical system models; hands-on manufacturing and/or flight testing; design or software engineering background; understanding of aerodynamics, avionics, and flight systems. This is a senior technical leadership role within a fast-moving defense technology company focused on AI-powered autonomy and real-time command & control systems.
