Anduril Industries is seeking a Deputy Chief Engineer for Autonomous Airpower to lead the design and development of advanced autonomous aircraft systems. This is a senior technical leadership role responsible for owning vehicle subsystems from conceptual design through production, with accountability for program vision, technical execution, and team coordination.
Key responsibilities include establishing program plans and communicating vision to engineering teams; coordinating design-level trades across functional engineering teams; incorporating expertise in aircraft design, design standards, system safety, and test methodology; establishing requirements and design review criteria; managing subsystem interfaces; and owning technical and programmatic risks. You will negotiate workflows with functional engineering leaders, develop budgetary estimates and schedules, create staffing estimates, recruit top talent, and monitor budget and schedule performance. Additionally, you will coordinate transitions between engineering, manufacturing, test, and production phases.
The role requires 7+ years of professional engineering experience with demonstrated expertise in developing, building, and testing large aircraft subsystems. You must have led technical new-start development projects and possess strong oral and written communication skills. An Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Software Engineering degree is required, along with the ability to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include aviation passion (FAA pilot license, A&P license, or experimental aircraft experience), demonstrated ability to take designs from concept to flight, unmanned aircraft development experience, and strong hands-on technical skills both professionally and as a hobby.
