Rula is seeking a Data Scientist to join its Trust & Safety team, serving as the core technical data expert responsible for protecting the platform, evaluating healthcare claims, and ensuring operations meet regulatory standards. The role focuses on reviewing billing patterns, identifying data anomalies, and delivering clear analytics to legal and compliance partners. You will apply advanced SQL and Python/R skills alongside a strong understanding of medical coding frameworks to navigate large, complex healthcare datasets safely.
Reporting directly to the Sr. Analytics Manager of Business Intelligence, you will build proactive models and protective guardrails that safeguard Rula's legal standing, protect patient care, and ensure secure business operations. Key responsibilities include data integrity auditing, tracking discrepancies and historical anomalies in complex data infrastructure, and translating technical discoveries into clear risk assessments for non-technical leadership.
Required qualifications include 5+ years in analytics, data science, or forensic data investigation; expert proficiency in SQL and Python/R; demonstrated expertise with data visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, Hex, Mode); strong data storytelling abilities; and deep understanding of data integrity auditing practices.
Preferred qualifications include prior experience in healthcare compliance, legal operations, or Trust & Safety environments; familiarity with medical coding frameworks (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) and health insurance reimbursement pipelines; experience with healthcare claims data; background in fast-paced, high-growth startups; and proven ability to connect analytics insights to corporate risk mitigation strategy.
