This Data Scientist role sits at the intersection of data science, ML, AI safety, and policy. You will own safety datasets end-to-end—from collection, cleaning, and labelling through quality control, versioning, and readiness for training and evaluation. Working closely with safety researchers, engineers, and policy specialists, you'll translate complex safety requirements into practical data and evaluation systems.
Key responsibilities include: owning the full dataset lifecycle (collection through production readiness); translating safety policy into clear, consistent labelling and evaluation criteria; designing and managing labelling processes including sourcing and onboarding external contributors; building evaluation workflows for production models using real-world data; and developing Python/SQL pipelines and tooling to accelerate data work and ensure reproducibility.
You should have experience as a Data Scientist working with real-world datasets and ML models, a strong grasp of dataset quality (collection, cleaning, sampling, labelling, QC, evaluation), proficiency in Python and SQL, and strong critical thinking to navigate ambiguity and turn complex guidelines into scalable decisions. Autonomous communication across disciplines (policy, engineering, research) in a fast-moving environment is essential.
Bonus experience includes AI safety, trust & safety, content moderation, fraud/abuse detection, dataset/evaluation framework building, adversarial/safety-focused ML, human-in-the-loop labelling, dataset versioning, ML pipeline tooling, or operationalizing guidelines with policy/legal teams.
