Deliveroo is hiring Data Science Managers to lead analytical strategy and high-performing teams across the business. You'll own the analytical direction and measurable impact of a product or business area, managing and developing data scientists or machine learning engineers.
The role spans multiple areas including customer retention and loyalty, pricing and promotions, discovery and personalisation, and customer acquisition and engagement. You'll set the analytical direction for your area, decide which problems are worth solving, and ensure data science work translates into better product and commercial decisions. You'll remain hands-on while managing your team, partnering with Product, Engineering, Ops, Marketing and Finance as a thought partner.
Key responsibilities include leading and developing your team, setting the bar for analytical rigour and impact, identifying high-impact opportunities, and turning insights into clear strategy and execution. You'll work with senior stakeholders, explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and operate effectively in fast-moving, ambiguous environments where prioritisation and judgment matter as much as technical skill.
Ideal candidates bring strong expertise in experimentation, causal inference, or applied machine learning, with proven line management experience developing data scientists. You should have a track record as a senior individual contributor, demonstrated ability to identify high-impact opportunities, and confidence working with senior stakeholders. The role offers high autonomy to shape strategy, support for learning and growth through L&D programmes and mentoring, and a focus on wellbeing.
