Tilt is a fintech company that uses machine learning and real-time financial signals to provide credit access to underserved populations globally. The company operates across 14 countries and is backed by significant scale and stability.
You will lead the data science function across Tilt's two LATAM markets: Mexico and Brazil. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll manage a small team of data scientists while remaining an active technical contributor. The two markets are at different maturity stages—one requires establishing foundational infrastructure, modeling standards, and capability roadmaps; the other is more mature and focused on advancing model architecture and integrated credit decisioning.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning data science strategy and roadmap for both markets, determining priorities and quality standards
- Building and shipping models alongside your team
- Establishing modeling standards, infrastructure, and delivery practices where needed, and raising the bar where they exist
- Leading, mentoring, and developing data scientists across two markets with varying experience levels
- Partnering with credit leadership to translate business objectives into modeling, impact measurement, and P&L analysis
- Bringing structure and discipline to work execution with clear priorities and reliable delivery
- Contributing methodologies that scale across the wider Tilt data science organization
Ideal candidates have prior experience leading data scientists (as a manager or technical lead), remain hands-on with modeling work, possess strong applied machine learning craft, and have direct experience in lending, credit, or payments. You should be comfortable with ambiguity and high-growth environments, with a strong bias toward shipping and connecting data science to measurable business outcomes.
Location flexibility: based in Brazil, Mexico, or the US. Fluent English required; Portuguese or Spanish are advantages. The role is remote-first within a globally distributed team across 12+ time zones. Tilt offers competitive compensation with equity, flexible health plans with substantial subsidies, WFH office reimbursement, and twice-yearly paid global onsites.
