Solaris is Europe's leading embedded finance platform and fully licensed German bank, pioneering Banking-as-a-Service. The company enables fintechs, digital ecosystems, and multinationals to embed accounts, cards, lending, and payments directly into their products. Headquartered in Berlin with operations in Frankfurt, Solaris is transitioning into an AI-native banking platform. As Data Governance Manager, you will own and administer the company-wide data catalog, defining and maintaining regulatory data assets, updating the business glossary, and ensuring technical metadata is correctly tagged and categorized. You will develop automated end-to-end data lineage across operational and analytical systems to ensure the bank knows exactly where critical data originates and where it lands. Key responsibilities include further developing the Data Governance Operating Model in compliance with BCBS 239, DORA, and GDPR by developing policies and procedures for data access and management. You will define and maintain ownership concepts for every data product, from data marts and dashboards to data applications. You will define data owners, resolve conflicts based on governance policies, and design company-wide data contracts translated into detailed technical requirements. You will represent the department in internal and external audits, define and maintain SLAs for the data platform and critical data elements, and further develop the data quality framework with quality controls for critical data elements. The role requires translating regulatory frameworks like BAIT, MaRisk, DORA, and the EU AI Act into concrete technical requirements that satisfy strict BaFin and Bundesbank auditors. Required qualifications include a degree in Data Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Informatics, or Finance and Economics, with minimum 8 years of data governance experience in fast-paced regulated environments. You must have hands-on experience with modern cloud data governance tools (Atlan, Collibra, Snowflake Horizon), proficient SQL and data profiling skills, and understanding of modern data stacks including ETL/ELT, data warehousing, Git, CI/CD, and automated testing. Experience managing data governance artifacts as code (Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Elementary) is essential. You should understand data minimization, anonymization/pseudonymization, and GDPR principles including Right to be Forgotten requests. Excellent English is required; German language skills are preferred. The ability to persuade product teams to prioritize data governance and act as an objective mediator in data ownership disputes is critical.
