DailyPay is seeking a Data Engineer II to join its Data Engineering Team, which builds the data infrastructure supporting analytics and data products used across the organization (finance, sales, marketing, operations, engineering) and by partner companies. The team ingests internal and external data to provide insights about the payroll industry, personal finance, and financial wellbeing.
In this role, you will build and maintain ETL and data pipelines, design and implement data testing and scaling capabilities, and maintain monitoring and alerting for the company's ETL pipelines, data warehouse, and analytics infrastructure. You'll optimize database performance while reducing warehouse costs and development times, participate in code reviews for analytics engineering efforts, and produce reports, metrics, and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders.
Required qualifications include 4+ years of SQL experience with expert-level capability, experience with data storage architectures (dimensional models, data lakes, lakehouses, data warehouses), familiarity with event-driven architectures and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and experience working with large data volumes. You should be proficient with BI tools (Tableau, Looker), MPP data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery), and ETL tools (Fivetran, Stitch). Strong presentation and communication skills are essential, particularly for explaining technical concepts to non-technical partners.
Nice-to-have skills include Python or Go for custom data processing, 1+ years with dbt including data quality checks, experience with financial/accounting data or ERP systems (NetSuite, Sage), CI/CD and orchestration tools (Airflow), and reverse ETL tools (Hightouch, Census).
