In this Data Engineer role on the Axion product team, you will own the design and optimization of data pipelines that power machine learning models at scale. Your responsibilities include evolving the data engine architecture to handle high-fidelity labels, reducing annotation costs, and accelerating ML iteration cycles. You'll integrate foundation models (LLMs, VLMs, and multimodal models) to automate and enhance labeling, quality assurance, and data discovery workflows. The role involves leveraging software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing methodologies, and you'll interact directly with DoD customers to understand use cases, requirements, and field event needs to deliver superior customer experience.
You bring 5+ years of relevant work experience with strong familiarity in modern ML infrastructure, data-centric AI approaches, and running large-scale GPU jobs. You have hands-on experience building or working on microservices and/or databases for data-oriented software. You're eager to learn and grow into a position of ownership and impact on a new product team. U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a security clearance are legally required.
Nice-to-have skills include full-stack experience with React, TypeScript, Python, or Golang; Docker, Kubernetes, Opensearch, and Postgres; direct experience with foundation models for data automation; background in autonomous driving or robotics perception; and experience with active learning, auto-labeling, or human-in-the-loop ML systems.
