Varda Space Industries is seeking a Data Engineer to join its enterprise applications team in El Segundo, California. Varda is a commercial space infrastructure company focused on in-orbit pharmaceutical processing and reentry capsule technology, backed by top-tier investors including Khosla Ventures, Lux Capital, and Founders Fund.
In this role, you will support the development of data pipelines, storage, security, and quality that power the organization. You will learn and contribute to the current application ecosystem and data architecture, collaborating across functions to identify opportunities for process and application improvements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining ELT pipelines that ingest data from ERP, CRM, PLM, QMS, and other enterprise systems
- Supporting enterprise data platform and application evaluations by researching external solutions
- Managing data storage tasks including table format standards, partitioning strategies, and ecosystem interoperability
- Establishing data quality frameworks, lineage tracking, and pipeline observability with SLA monitoring and proactive alerting
- Supporting AI/ML workflows by designing feature pipelines and governed knowledge layers for model and agent consumption
- Translating business requirements into technical specifications and data solutions
- Operating within regulated environments subject to FDA GMP, ITAR, and DCAA compliance requirements
- Implementing modern development practices including source control, peer review, CI/CD pipelines, and automated workflows
- Leveraging AI-assisted development tooling to accelerate delivery
- Applying layered data architecture patterns for reliability and reuse
This is a full-time, onsite, exempt position reporting to the Director of Enterprise Applications. Your contributions will immediately impact functional operations and support Varda's growth in the orbital economy.
