RA Capital Management is a leading venture capital and growth equity firm with $10B+ under management, investing across healthcare innovation and planetary health. The Data Engineering team builds enterprise data platforms that power research, investment, and operational workflows across the firm.
This role focuses on building and operating AI-enabled data platforms for healthcare data. You will design and maintain scalable, production-grade data pipelines for healthcare datasets including claims and provider data. Key responsibilities include building and optimizing data models in Databricks to support analytical and AI-driven workloads, developing high-quality Python and SQL code for data standardization and validation, and partnering with AI/ML engineers to enable LLM-powered data access.
You will contribute to AI-native data access frameworks where large language models translate user intent into structured, governed queries (SQL, GraphQL). This goes beyond traditional ETL—you'll help bridge enterprise data systems with LLM-based interfaces that support self-service analytics and decision-making. Additional responsibilities include implementing monitoring, validation, and governance for data and AI workflows, collaborating with healthcare data vendors and internal stakeholders, and documenting data architectures.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred). 1–3+ years of experience in software or data engineering. Strong foundation in SQL, Python, Java, and Spark. Hands-on experience with Databricks and/or Snowflake. Experience with healthcare or regulated datasets preferred. Familiarity with LLM-powered enterprise systems and GraphQL or API-based data access methods is valuable. Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship and based in Massachusetts, available for hybrid work in the Boston area.
