Oura is seeking a Data Engineer to join the Research Operations team, supporting the company's mission to empower people to understand their health through wearable ring technology and connected apps. The role focuses on building and maintaining data infrastructure that enables algorithm development and research studies.
Key responsibilities include designing and building data pipelines, databases, and dashboards that collect, manage, and deliver data for algorithm development. You will work cross-functionally to monitor and troubleshoot ongoing research studies, ensuring data quality and integrity through automated processes. The position offers exposure to the complete data journey—from raw sensor data collection through hardware and firmware to algorithm development.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Physics, Math, or related field, plus 3+ years of production Python and SQL experience. You should have hands-on experience with cloud and data platforms, particularly AWS and Databricks, including pipeline or infrastructure ownership. Data visualization and dashboard design experience (e.g., Tableau) is essential. The ideal candidate demonstrates adaptability in dynamic environments, commitment to process improvement, and curiosity about human research studies.
Desirable experience includes familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, multi-modal and sensor data, collaborative code tools (Git), and AI-assisted development tools.
