Octopus Energy Generation (OEGEN) is a leader in sourcing, investing in, and managing utility-scale renewable energy assets globally, with a portfolio exceeding £8 billion. The company is undergoing a comprehensive transformation to transition from legacy systems to an integrated, AI-driven, data-centric operational model.
As a Data Engineer, you will own the complete data journey from source systems to decision-ready outputs. Your core responsibilities include building and maintaining data pipelines, modeling data, standing up dashboards, and integrating systems via APIs. The role spans both data infrastructure and application development—you'll build internal tools using Streamlit, FastAPI, or HTMX to deliver data directly to investment and asset management teams.
In your first three months, you'll take ownership of at least one critical pipeline ingesting data from external systems into Databricks and build or materially improve a reporting layer used by Fund Management or Asset Management teams. You'll work within a hybrid team that operates across both legacy and modern environments, contributing to OEGEN's transformation into an efficient, data-driven organization.
The Data, Tech & Transformation Team is leveraging insights from technically mature sister entities (Kraken and OE) to adopt cutting-edge tools and capabilities, particularly AI and Python-driven solutions. This role offers exposure to both data engineering fundamentals and full-stack application development in a mission-driven renewable energy context.
